FASKEN AND CRPBC RECOGNIZED FOR QUARTER CENTURY OF CLINICAL RESEARCH SUPPORT AND SERVICE

Clinical Trials British Columbia (CTBC) presented the CTBC Support Award and the CTBC Service Award at an online award ceremony held on January 28, 2021.

Clinical Research Professionals of BC (CRPBC) was awarded the Clinical Trials BC Service Award for 2020. Recipients are recognized for the community-based, volunteer commitment of an individual, organization, company or agency to improve the research and clinical trials community.

CRBPC has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the clinical trials through activities that address challenges while inspiring and mentoring the next generation of clinical research teams and professionals. This award marked CRPBC’s 25 years of service to the BC research and clinical trials community.

Fasken was awarded the Clinical Trials BC Support Award for 2020. This award recognizes the community-based, volunteer commitment of an individual, organization, company or agency to improve the research and clinical trials community in the previous year.

Fasken has provided 25 years of support to the research and clinical trials community. This group has made an enormous contribution to the professional development and ongoing education of research team professionals by providing a forum for clinical research professionals to meet, share ideas, develop partnerships and keep abreast of the changing regulatory and legal environment.

“We are very proud to have bestowed these awards on two very deserving groups,” said Stirling Bryan, President, BC AHSN (of which CTBC is an operational unit). “Both organizations have made such an impact on the clinical trials and research community over the past 25 years.”

“The awards recognize two organizations that have been exceptional as British Columbia and more widely, Canada, embarks upon the modernization and renovation of the clinical trial platform,” noted Alison Orth, Unit Director, CTBC.

Clinical Trials BC advances British Columbia as a world-class destination for clinical trials across the province’s hospitals, research institutions and communities. Its mission is to maximize the health, educational, and economic benefits of clinical trials to the citizens of BC. Clinical Trials BC, along with the BC SUPPORT Unit and Research Ethics BC, is a unit of the British Columbia Academic Health Science Network (BC AHSN).

An interdisciplinary team approach as well as partnering with patients is vital for improving health. Ms. Arsovska will discuss findings concerning "How a healthcare team at an organizational level can work with patients to increase patient understanding and management of their disease." Lessons learned as a research manager and coordinator will be discussed. Organizing an annual patient education event to leading a Patient Advisory group and volunteering with a provincial working group to find ways to disseminate results to patients will be addressed.
